After working for over 30 years in public and private schools, as a counsellor, special education teacher, and team leader, I now have a private practice focusing on the wellbeing of children, youth, and adults. The counselling and coaching I offer is strength based and solution focused, using the best tools from a variety of different counselling modalities, such as cognitive behavior therapy, and art coaching. Personally, I have been through divorce and have two adult children (who managed to thrive through the process).

Separation and divorce is a significant life event. It is a transition that can impact everyone differently. My role as a member of the Collaborative Family and Separation team is to provide support for children and families to help manage this very personal process.

One of the most challenging aspects of separation is managing emotion and actions.  With many diverse implications and concerns, communication between parents, and responding to day-to-day issues and events can be difficult. My role as Divorce Coach is to help establish goals for parents to achieve desired outcomes for the benefit of the child(ren) and family. These would include self-care and understanding the needs of the child(ren). Together, with other members of the team, we will identify needs and establish appropriate goals.

My role as a Child Specialist is to be an objective advocate for the child. After spending time with the child(ren), giving them the opportunity to share their story, and assessing their needs, I will support by providing information to assist with the creation of a parenting plan.
